Some typical determitaors for such buildings are the silver, very shiny metal roofs, roofs with multiple domes or pointed domes, mostly decorated with mercedes stars on each top of the dome and their big metal fences with their own unique decorations.

Each vila normally has a name (as seen on top of some roofs) to indicate whom it belongs to. The decorations such as lion heads, mermaids, signs, stars etc. on the windows, fences and on the roofs also indicate the clan belonging and each individual status inside bespoken clans or groups.

The title is chosen this way out of two reasons. On one hand most people outside of the balkan countries don't know that such buildings exist and on the other hand no one actually knows where the owners are, since the vilas are almost always uninhabitated. Due to some neighbors asked in each individual area, some of the owners are now living in other countries all over the world, some are in jail. 

The initial purpose of these vilas is always to show off the status and the wealth. These are important for individual matters like for example marriage choices.
